Changes in the Board of Management

FCS Geschäftsführung

At the turn of the year 2018/2019, the Executive Management Team of FCS Flight Calibration Services GmbH saw some significant changes: After a prolonged and distinguished career as our Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Ruediger Schmidt, went into well-deserved retirement. He was succeeded by Christian de la Roi in the role of CEO. In February 2019, Thomas Wede joined FCS as Chief Operations Officer (COO) to complete the Executive Management Team of our company.

FCS Geschäftsführer Herr de la Roi

Christian de la Roi started his professional career in 1987 when he joined Pan American World Airways Inc. in Berlin and Frankfurt/M., where he filled various roles within the financial department, culminating in his role as Assistant to the Vice President of PAN AM’s Atlantic Division.

In February 1993, he joined DFS Deutsche Flugsicherung GmbH, where he was instrumental in establishing the controlling and accounting divisions within the, then newly privatized, ANSP.

Over the course of his career within DFS, de la Roi, who graduated with a degree in business administration from the University of Berlin, filled various roles, such as strategic planning, Assistant to the Technical Director of DFS, and Chief Financial Officer (CFO) for the Facility Management Division of DFS.

In July 2003, de la Roi joined the FCS Executive Management Team as CFO. Together with Ruediger Schmidt, and all postholders and staff, FCS was developed into a financially sound and technology-focused leading provider of flight inspection and flight validation services.

Thomas Wede is active in the field of Flight Inspection since 1989.

After finishing university training with a diploma in geo sciences in that year, while also completing Airline Transport Pilot training, Wede joined Aerodata AG, one of the leading providers for Flight Inspection Systems.

Wede was instrumental in establishing and leading the flight department of that company until its sale to the British Cobham Group in 2006. With that entity ceasing Flight Inspection operations in 2012, Wede successfully operated his own company, focussing on Flight Validation and Flight Validation Pilot training, as well as other training and checking activities for the industry. Joining the Executive Management Team of FCS in February 2019 as COO, this role represents a return to his roots, as his former employer and FCS’ predecessor organisation had a very close cooperation between 1995 and 2001.

FCS Geschäftsführer Herr Wede

Through its profound competence and long-standing experience, FCS’ Executive Management Team put FCS in a good position to face the challenges ahead of our industry. To address changes already visible on the horizon to the Flight Inspection market proactively is the expressed intent of our new management. Clear expressions of this strategy include enhancing our portfolio in the fields of UAV activities and consulting, along with expanding our international footprint.
